dual keimar
sty
Coombe Records
will be releasing the brand new Dual album in October 2001. Keimar
Sty features five brand new tracks and is the first release on the
new label Coombe
Records
- As always
all the sounds on this release are derived from the guitar and this
second full CD release shows Dual exploring rhythms and percussion
coaxed from the guitar while applying various treatments and manipulation.
Although some traditional methods of playing the guitar have been
employed on the recordings of this album the finished mixes show
no real sign of a plucked guitar string. Drones and textures are
interwoven with clicks, pops and buzz from the electronics with
subtle bass rhythm to create a soundbed of drifting melancholic
ambience.
- This album
features new collaborators George Richardson (Coombe
Records / Cassette41)
and Alice Kemp (Germ Seed).
This album will
be available in late October through all good record shops and the
usual outlets plus most mail order distributors. Keimar Sty will also
be available direct from Dual / Coombe Records via mail order please
write to Dual for
availability and latest prices.

live
- Dual will play
a new piece entitled
Incursion
Cycle with improvisation playing a major part of the piece.
The performance will be controlled by 'pre programmed machines'
using direct sound processing and real time granular synthesis of
the live guitars. This allows the performers to place the actual
sounds of the music into a different sound context with the aid
of specially constructed studio software that treats the sound live.
This piece was specially composed for the shows and there are no
further plans to perform this piece after these dates. The piece
will be performed at the following shows only:
